"Uni Bible Group helped me grow in the desire to serve God in all parts of life."
Elliot, newly graduated engineering student.
I grew in my love for Jesus and received lots of love and encouragement through friends in Uni Bible Group and FOCUS!
Dian, international student.
Uni Bible Group (formerly the Evangelical Christian Union) is an interdenominational Christian group at the University of Wollongong. We’re affiliated with AFES, the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students and function as a club on UOW’s main Wollongong campus. We aim to know Christ better and make him known through the Bible.
All students are welcome to our public meetings, where we teach through the Bible systematically. Uni Bible Group members are united in our high regard for the scriptures, and so all our activities, whether regular prayer meetings, small group Bible studies, or regular camps and conferences, are centred on the Bible. However, everyone is welcome to come along to our meetings – you don’t have to be a member or a Christian – we’d love to see you there!
Uni Bible Group runs alongside FOCUS (Fellowship of Overseas Christian University Students), another UOW Christian group especially for international students.
Our goals
Our vision statement is ‘To proclaim Jesus Christ at University to present everyone mature in him’ (see Colossians 1:28). From this we have several aims:
- To present UOW students with the Christian gospel and encourage them to a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
- To strengthen Christians in their faith and witness, and to encourage them to continually submit every aspect of their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
- To ensure that Christians in the University are made aware of the nature, needs and challenge of Christian service at home and abroad.
